Acrylic Paintings
Painting has presented an exciting new world of possibilities for me, and (as I mentioned previously) has allowed me to further-develop the more graphic element of my Portraiture that emerged in my pencil-work. When I decided to revisit painting at the beginning of 2017 it had been ten years since I had picked up a paintbrush, and although I knew I wanted my paintings to have a more graphic quality to them I did not foresee at that time that they would have the sort of Pop-Art-/Andy Warhol-feel I believe they have.
Transitioning from drawing with pencil to painting with acrylics was an interesting experience for me because, whereas my pencil-drawings are very detailed and intricate in terms of their line-work I feel that my paintings' impact lies in their simple, bold lines and blocks of colour. Although this more exaggerated graphic look came to the fore of my painting-style organically I am pleased with the effect, and I hope viewers of my work will find it pleasing as well.
