Pencil-Drawings

Pencil will always hold a special place in my heart because it is the tool that first allowed me to explore my interest in Portraiture, and to hone my abilities in it. I prefer to refer to my work with pencil as 'Stylized Realism' because although my original intention for it may have been to fall solely within the 'Realism' category I feel that my own, more graphic style seems to have emerged, something I have been developing in more depth recently using acrylic paint.

For me drawing with pencil is a particularly sensual experience because not only does the subject matter I choose speak to a deeper part of me, but in order to create shadow, soften lines, and execute a cohesive end-result I smudge a lot of my pencil-work with my fingers.

I choose the majority of my subject matter based on the manner in which it has stirred my emotions, so I hope I am able to include viewers of my art in these experiences.
